MITTI Cafe aims to expand further into cities like Chennai and Hyderabad.

Alina Alam, who started MITTI Cafe at the age of 23, envisioned a world where abilities are celebrated rather than limitations. Her inspiration stemmed from her experiences growing up around family members with disabilities. With a powerful dream to showcase the potential of individuals often overlooked by society, she launched MITTI Cafe as a platform for economic independence and dignity.

Recent Achievements and Recognition

As of December 2024, MITTI Cafe operates in more than 40 locations across India, including prestigious sites like the Supreme Court and several international airports. The cafe has served over 11 million meals, providing not just food but also a message of inclusion.

The latest outlet was inaugurated at the Reception Center of Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolaram, Telangana, on December 27, 2024. This cafe is managed by a dedicated team of 15 individuals with mental and physical challenges, who earn salaries ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 based on their roles. This initiative supports their financial independence and allows them to live with dignity.

Recently, MITTI Cafe was set to receive the President’s Award for Organisations Empowering Persons with Disabilities, recognising its significant contributions to disability empowerment initiatives. President Droupadi Murmu visited the cafe during her winter retreat and commended the team for their dedication.

Additionally, Alina was honoured with the FAB Humanitarian Award 2024 for her commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities. This recognition highlights her dedication to creating opportunities that foster skill development and social integration.

MITTI Cafe offers a diverse menu featuring snacks like samosas, chaat, pakoras, sandwiches, and ice creams—all prepared with a focus on quality. Each cafe also showcases handmade decor items crafted by employees, promoting their talents and creativity.
