Brothers Arun and Anoop George from Kerala are the proud inventors of a low-cost wind turbine that is all set to bring a revolution in the field of renewable energy. The turbine is cheapest when it comes to price and the amount of energy it can generate. The turbine, measuring the size of a ceiling fan is priced at Rs 50,000 and is capable of producing three to five-kilowatt hours of electricity, enough electricity to power a house daily.
The brothers, owners of Avant Garde Innovations, believe that it will be a game-changer in the market and common man can easily access it as the turbines that are currently being imported cost around Rs 2 Lakh.
Where India stands when it comes to harnessing wind energy?
According to the Global Wind Energy Council, India is one of the major players in the market of wind energy. It ranks fourth after China, the US and Germany, in terms of installed wind power capacity.
Energy experts opine that India is yet to make the full use of its potential to produce wind power. Despite a majority of the villages in India lacks electricity, there is hardly any initiative by the government to implement new wind energy schemes.
According to Euronews, India added 3,300 megawatts in wind power capacity during the past year, bringing the total up to almost 27,000 megawatts. That’s higher than the total wind energy produced in Latin America and the Caribbean.
If this wind turbine is implemented, houses will be able to enjoy free electricity for at least the next 20 years.
The Logical Indian community appreciates the initiative by the two brothers, for innovating such a product. We hope this product will be able to solve the problem of power crises in the country.
