After media bashing and much invited criticism of the government in the wake of Delhi overtaking Tokyo in terms of population, the Delhi government has decided to provide 2 crore or more in seed funding to promising startups/companies that can come up with ideas on pollution and environment control. The University of Chicago will join hands with the Delhi government to tackle pollution.

The move came after Delhi’s pollution level was declared hazardous as the US embassy’s monitoring station recorded an air quality index of 372.
The Delhi Dialogue Commission in collaboration with the energy &environment Lab at University of Chicago Labs and the Energy Policy Institute at University of Chicago’s Centre in Delhi, launched the Urban labs Innovation Challenge which will ponder upon the ideas to meet future energy needs and confronting pollution.
