#‎MyStory‬
An incident happened with me very recently.
I read about ‘ThakThak’ gang sometime back but never thought I would become one of its victims yesterday (27th Aug’15). I want to spread this message for awareness and safety of everyone.

I work in Okhla Industrial Area Phase III and was returning from office in my car, Compact SUV. The incident happened on the main road in front of NSIC bus stop. This stop is some 100-200 m from the end of Modi Mills’s flyover when you head towards Kalkaji Mandir/Nehru Place.

I was driving my car and it was around 6:15PM when I joined the slow moving traffic heading towards Kalkaji Mandir/Nehru Place. As I was about to cross the NSIC bus stop, I noticed two persons walking and approaching my car from the co-driver’s side trying to cross the road. Just as I passed through, suddenly one of them started banging on the front left door and presented as if his foot came under my car. The other person soon followed and started banging rear left window. He claimed that I’ve driven over the first person’s foot and both demanded to open the window/door while continuously banging on the windows.

I panicked and pressed the button on my side to lower the co-driver window to hear them and to know what exactly happened. This was the biggest MISTAKE! Just then, another person (thought he was a passerby who came in support of the first person) started banging on the rear right door with full force. I was shocked and same time felt annoyed thinking that he might break the glass. I looked at the 3rd person for around 5-10 sec and said I didn’t do anything. I closed both the windows and started moving ahead wondering what just happened.

Moved another 50m when an auto-wallah came alongside and told that they took my mobile phone. I looked at the mobile holder hanging from the wind shield only to find that my phone was gone.

Beware friends as this is extremely professional gang. I stopped my car on the side and could not believe for a few minutes what happened and how they stole my phone in such a manner! It’s a huge loss for me but I’m still happy that worst could’ve happened. While driving, I usually place my wallet on my side or at the right end corner of the dashboard. Yesterday it was kept on the dashboard. Thankfully, I didn’t open the front right window otherwise the third person could have snatched it. My laptop bag was on the co-driver seat, the first person could have stolen that as well.

I want to convey to all my friends- avoid opening window/doors on road. Be cautious with road side/traffic signal vendors. Always keep location on (though it kills battery) so as to track your phone. I’ve successfully lodged an FIR in Kalkaji police station after waiting for five long hours. At least this saves you from any misuse of phone in future.
Drive safe…Be cautious on roads…Take care!
