A viral video circulating on social media shows a woman allegedly under the influence of alcohol parking her car in the middle of a busy road and verbally abusing bystanders who asked her to move the vehicle. The clip, originally shared on X by a user named Rudhra Yadav, sparked confusion online as several users initially claimed the incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh.
However, subsequent media reports and police statements indicate that the episode took place at Camp Chowk in Hisar, Haryana, on the night of April 11. According to police, the woman identified as a government nurse working at a primary health centre in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan refused to move her vehicle and engaged in a heated argument with locals, causing a traffic disruption.
Officers who reached the scene reportedly confirmed that she was intoxicated and later registered a case for drink-driving and obstruction of public order. Authorities have seized the vehicle and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Drunk Driving Sparks Late-Night Chaos
The incident reportedly unfolded around 11 pm on Saturday night near Camp Chowk, a busy intersection in Hisar, when the woman stopped her car abruptly in the middle of the road, leading to a traffic jam and drawing the attention of passers-by. Eyewitnesses said that when people asked her to move the vehicle and clear the road, she allegedly began shouting at them and used abusive language.
In the video circulating online, the woman is heard asserting her professional status and claiming that she earns a high salary, reportedly stating that she could easily buy another car even if the current one was seized. According to reports, the confrontation lasted for nearly 20 minutes as locals attempted to persuade her to move the vehicle and restore normal traffic flow.
Eventually, police officers on night patrol, including Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar and a female constable, reached the spot after noticing a crowd gathering around the car with Rajasthan registration plates. The officers intervened, brought the situation under control, and escorted the woman to the police station for further inquiry.
Police Action After Viral Video
After the incident gained traction on social media, police confirmed that the woman was taken to the station where an alcohol test reportedly showed she had consumed alcohol. Officials also noted that she was unable to produce valid registration or insurance documents for the vehicle at the time.
Following a complaint filed by an assistant sub-inspector, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Urban Estate police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing public order and related offences. Authorities impounded the vehicle as part of the proceedings, although it was later released to a family member.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law. The incident also triggered widespread reactions online, with many social media users condemning drink-driving and irresponsible behaviour in public spaces, while others debated the accuracy of early claims about the incident’s location.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
Viral videos often capture dramatic moments but seldom present the full context behind them. While the alleged behaviour in this case has drawn criticism, it also raises important questions about responsible conduct in public spaces and the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Road safety is a shared responsibility, and incidents that disrupt traffic or endanger others can have serious consequences. At the same time, the rapid spread of such videos online demonstrates how quickly misinformation such as incorrect claims about the location can circulate before facts are verified. Responsible citizenship, both on the road and on social media, requires restraint, accountability, and empathy toward others.
