On August 7, 2025, a shocking discovery in a village of Koratagere taluk, Tumakuru district, Karnataka, stirred panic when a dog was seen dragging a severed human hand near Mutyalamma Temple in Chimpuganahalli. Another hand, wrapped in plastic, was found about a kilometre away. Police subsequently recovered dismembered body parts of a 42-year-old woman, Lakshmidevamma, scattered across 10 locations, including her head. She had been missing since August 4, after visiting her daughter.

The brutal murder and dismemberment have left locals terrified, with the police actively investigating but yet to find the perpetrator(s) or motive.

Gruesome Discovery Shocks the Community

On that fateful morning, villagers encountered a horrifying sight: body parts dispersed at multiple spots such as intestines near Lingapura Road bridge, stomach and organs near Bendone Nursery, and a blood-stained bag containing a leg near Jonigarahalli.

The parts were found strewn over a radius spanning Koratagere and Kolala police jurisdictions, amplifying the shock and fear. A police spokesperson urged calm, stating, “The brutality of this crime is disturbing, and we are committed to bringing the culprit(s) to justice.” Investigators are pursuing all leads, including CCTV footage, eyewitness testimonies, and forensic evidence.

Victim and Investigation Details

Lakshmidevamma, the victim, was identified from distinctive tattoos on her hands and facial features during investigations. She had departed her home on August 3 to visit her daughter in Urdigere but failed to return, leading her husband to file a missing person complaint on August 4. Authorities believe the murder took place around August 5, with the remains deliberately scattered to hinder identification.

The police have formed teams, including forensic experts and canine units from Bengaluru, and are cross-verifying missing person reports from neighbouring districts. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made, keeping the community anxious and seeking answers.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This brutal and inhumane act underscores the urgent need to strengthen safety nets within communities, emphasising empathy, vigilance, and collective responsibility. It echoes a grim reminder of past horrific crimes and calls for fostering a culture rooted in peace, respect, and protection of every individual’s dignity.

As investigations continue, society must reflect on how to bolster community policing, improve support systems for vulnerable groups, and cultivate dialogues that prevent such violent incidents.
