Diesel Vehicles Over 10-Years-Old Now Banned In The Capital

In a move which won’t only clear the confusion surrounding Diesel cars in Delhi but also make Delhi air clean, National Green Tribunal has banned all the diesel cars that are older than 10 year from plying on Delhi roads.

It has asked Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the city to de-register all the diesel vehicles. After de-registration, RTO has been asked to issue a public notice in this regard and supply the list of such vehicles to Delhi Traffic Police.

This will cause inconvenience to more than 50,000 diesel car owners of Delhi. The inconvenience will be more as there is no notice period and the order will be immediately followed.

Failure To Implement Orders Last year, NGT had banned all the cars that were more than 15 years old. But Delhi govt. failed to implement the order as there was confusion about who would be implementing the order: RTO or Delhi govt. But this time order is very clear.

Will this decrease the level of pollution in Delhi? Hopefully so, reason being the diesel vehicles release particulate matters which are really harmful and cannot be absorbed by leaves of trees, but at the same time smokes released from diesel vehicles constitute only 2% of the pollution.
