Demonetization is giving way too much inconvenience to the common man bringing to the fore news of people dying standing in lines or made to visit banks for continuously for their money needs. This incident is from Patna where a disabled individual named Shahnawaz has been visiting the Chaukshikarpur branch of State Bank of India for the past ten days and still hasn’t been able to withdraw the desired amount.

Shahnawaz met with an accident that paralysed him. He has iron rods fitted through half of his body. He can not walk without support. Under these harsh situations, he is helpless and is being forced by the circumstances to visit the bank to get his insurance money amounting to Rs 36000. Moreover, he is taken to the bank by his extended family and relatives, which is also a bigger inconvenience. When he visited the bank the first time, he was denied the money for the reason that there wasn’t sufficient balance available in his account. He took the relevant documents with transaction history the next day but was still not helped.

All the banks have been advised and requested to lend special facilities and attention to the aged and disabled, but no such services are seen here in Patna. Shahnawaz himself asks the same question to the authorities and tells that it is tough for him to stand in never ending lines outside banks where people often get impatient creating chaos which might injure him even further. He is deeply saddened and troubled by the behaviour of the bank authorities.

We might agree to the fact that this step of demonetization is for the sake of the people, though unfortunately, its implementation has not been the best.

The logical Indian expects that the situation will be better in the near future and at the same time requests the government to ensure that support facilities are made available for the disabled and senior citizens.
