Customer accuses Rapido of slow response and verification failures after rider disappears with expensive parcel.

A Delhi woman’s ₹21,000 Marshall speaker allegedly disappeared after a Rapido parcel rider took it during delivery and vanished. Despite repeated complaints and filing an FIR, the company allegedly offered only a ₹5,000 refund, citing terms and conditions.

Tanya Monga, took to her LinkedIn to share her experience. She criticized Rapido for delayed response and poor background verification allowing unregistered vehicles and riders. Rapido acknowledged the issue, apologised, and promised prompt investigation and resolution.

The incident has raised serious questions about safety, accountability, and customer trust in app-based delivery services, prompting fresh calls for stricter verification and swift grievance redressal.

Delivery Theft Sparks Public Outcry

On November 5, Monga booked Rapido’s parcel service to send a prized Marshall speaker worth ₹21,000. The rider picked it up but never delivered it, she alleges. Her public LinkedIn post detailing the ordeal went viral, calling out Rapido under the headline “Public Escalation: Rapido Rider Theft & Zero Accountability.”

Customers and social media followers rallied around her complaint, highlighting recurring concerns about theft, fraud, and lax security in gig economy deliveries. The unregistered status of the bike used raised alarms about the company’s onboarding and background checks.

“Until Rapido fixes its security and verification systems, customers’ safety and property remain at risk. Given this severe lapse in security and failure to resolve an issue involving theft by a non-verified rider, I strongly urge everyone to stop placing package orders through Rapido. They are clearly not a trustworthy service provider for your valuable items,” she wrote.

Customer Struggles for Justice

The woman expressed deep frustration with Rapido’s sluggish customer support, which took more than 24 hours to confirm they couldn’t locate the rider. Despite the seriousness, Rapido’s refund offer was just ₹5,000, which she says is far below the actual loss and unacceptable.

She has demanded full compensation, an immediate public explanation addressing the background verification failure, and escalation of her case to senior management. She warns others against trusting Rapido with valuable parcels until systemic changes are made.

Rapido Responds

In the comments, Rapido left a note saying, “Hi Tanika, we understand the gravity of the situation you’ve described, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide.”

“Please rest assured that we are thoroughly investigating your concern and will take appropriate action to resolve this matter. Your safety and trust are our highest priorities, and we are committed to addressing this issue promptly. We will keep you updated with the progress and work towards a swift resolution.”

General Tips for Consumers

To stay safe from parcel delivery theft or loss incidents, always use sturdy, tamper-evident packaging and clearly label your parcel. Choose reputable courier services with verified riders and real-time tracking, and opt for deliveries that require a signature on receipt.

Communicate expected delivery times to recipients to ensure someone is available to receive the package. Avoid sending highly valuable items without insurance coverage. If an issue arises, report it promptly, keep records of all communication, and consider filing an FIR if necessary to protect your rights and property.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This case reveals troubling cracks in the safety and accountability of app-based delivery services that millions rely upon. The Logical Indian stands with customers demanding honest, timely responses and urges companies like Rapido to overhaul their verification systems, track riders in real-time, and invest in transparent grievance mechanisms. Consumer trust, built on respect and security, is vital for the gig economy’s continued growth.
