A 27-year-old man, reportedly named Gagan, was allegedly shot dead near his home in Delhi’s Shahdara area around 11:09 pm on 28 November 2025, reportedly minutes before his midnight birthday.

According to his father Ravi Kumar, Gagan had stepped out to meet someone, hugged the individual, and was then allegedly shot in the head, with two additional shots fired in the air before the assailant fled on a motorcycle; police have detained one suspect and the vehicle.

Senior officers including DCP Shahdara, crime team, and forensics responded, sending the body for postmortem at GTB Hospital; family unaware of motive, CCTV under review.

Reported Dispute Context

Police sources indicate Gagan, allegedly listed as a local ‘Bad Character’, reportedly went to meet two men on a motorcycle to settle a recent dispute near Chhotu Halwai Shop in V Block, Naveen Shahdara.

The area’s residents expressed shock over the alleged brazen attack in a busy neighbourhood, amid ongoing investigations into possible personal enmity. No prior threats were reportedly known to the family, who described it as a routine outing.

Gagan was married and had a 10 year old son, as per NDTV.

Shared a Hug, Then Shot in Head

Ravi Kumar reportedly told police, “Gagan came downstairs to meet the person, they shared a hug, and with that, the person shot Gagan in the head. He then fired a couple of shots in the air.”

Gagan was declared brought dead at GTB Hospital after the alleged head wound. DCP Shahdara Prashant Gautam and teams from Farsh Bazar SHO, crime branch, and FSL reportedly secured the scene, collecting evidence under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act provisions.

Investigation Progress

Police are reportedly scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals to identify the alleged shooter, who remains at large, while one accomplice and the motorcycle are in custody. Initial probes suggest a friendship-linked feud, though motives remain unconfirmed. The family seeks swift justice as tension grips the locality.
