A tragic fire at a hotel in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, has claimed around 21 lives and left several others injured, turning a routine medical support visit into a heartbreaking disaster. Family Came To Delhi For Medical Care
The Agarwal family from Sector 46, Gurugram, had travelled to Delhi to support their elderly relative, Radheshyam Agarwal, who was admitted to Max Super Speciality Hospital for treatment of a serious lung-related illness. To remain close to him during his treatment, several family members checked into a nearby hotel so they could travel easily between the hospital and accommodation.
The arrangement was meant to provide comfort and quick access for caregiving. However, this decision tragically placed the family in harm’s way when the fire broke out unexpectedly during their stay.
Victims From One Family
Eight members of the Agarwal family lost their lives in the incident. They included Vivek Agarwal, son of the elderly patient, his wife Tarjani Agarwal and other close relatives, along with two young granddaughters, Jivisha (also known as Angel) and Varya (also known as Pearl).
All of them had gathered in Delhi solely to support their ailing family elder. Despite initial uncertainty during the chaos, it was later confirmed that all eight family members had died in the fire, deepening the tragedy for the extended family.
How The Fire Spread
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a cylinder explosion inside the hotel premises. The blaze reportedly spread quickly through multiple floors, filling corridors and rooms with thick smoke.
