In a shocking and brutal incident in Samaypur Badli, outer North Delhi, a pregnant woman and her three young daughters were found with their throats slit inside their home; the husband is missing and police suspect him in the quadruple killing.

Police in North Delhi were alerted on the morning of 25 February 2026 after neighbours in the Chandan Park area of Samaypur Badli grew concerned when a family did not respond to repeated knocks at their door. When officers from Samaypur Badli Police Station arrived, they discovered a gruesome scene: the bodies of a woman and her three daughters lying inside a ground-floor room of the house, their throats slit by a sharp-edged weapon.

The deceased have been identified as Anita (27) and her daughters, aged three, five and seven years. Police said the injuries were so deep that the windpipes were severed, describing the crime as “extremely brutal”.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami confirmed multiple police teams have been constituted to investigate, with forensic experts and crime teams processing the scene. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.

Neighbours and relatives first became alarmed around 8am when Anita’s husband, identified as Munchun Kewat, was not at the scene and could not be reached. His phone reportedly went unanswered, and he has been missing since early morning, making him the prime suspect in the killings. Searches and raids are underway to locate him.

Search for Suspect and Initial Police Findings

Police say the case was registered at the Samaypur Badli Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder). Teams are combing CCTV footage from nearby streets, questioning friends and relatives, and tracking the suspect’s movements since he was last seen.

According to preliminary inquiry, Kewat was working as a vegetable seller at Azadpur Mandi and lived with his wife and children in a narrow lane near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. The family originally hailed from Patna district in Bihar and had been living in Delhi for over two years.

Some reporting indicates that neighbours heard nothing unusual the night before the attack, and the family had gone for routine errands, even shopping for upcoming festivities and a family event. However, early police enquiries suggest that Anita and Kewat may have had a dispute on Tuesday night although no specific motive has yet been confirmed.

Officials emphasised that while the husband is the prime suspect, all angles are being probed, and investigators are not ruling out other possibilities until evidence is fully reviewed.

Community in Shock: ‘Peaceful Family’ Remembered

Local residents described the family as quiet and peaceful, seemingly content and well-mannered. Several neighbours said they were stunned by the violence, saying they never heard arguments or signs of domestic trouble in the household. “They looked like a normal family,” said one neighbour, recalling how the children played nearby and often laughed with others.

Another relative said the 10-year-old nephew of Kewat was the one who first noticed something was wrong when he went to see the family in the morning. “He opened the main gate and found blood inside the room,” the relative said, recalling the horror of the discovery.

Friends and extended family, many of whom live nearby, expressed disbelief, stating that prior to the incident, the family gave no indications of fear or domestic strife. They conveyed grief, shock and an urgency for justice as police continue their search for the missing husband.

Police Standpoint and Broader Social Context

While authorities have yet to officially confirm a motive, investigators are said to be examining potential domestic pressures, including societal expectations and gender bias a factor often cited in violent family crimes. Some early media reports noted that the couple’s three daughters and the absence of a male child might have played a role in the tragedy, though officials stress that motive remains unconfirmed and under investigation.

Police have also collected statements from neighbours who mentioned occasional disputes between the couple, as well as CCTV footage showing the suspect running from the street shortly after the estimated time of the killings.

Investigators have pointed out that domestic violence cases sometimes present complex, hidden dynamics that may not be apparent from the outside and that attributing motive before evidence is established can be misleading. However, the brutality of the crime has already sparked widespread concern about the impact of deep-seated social attitudes on family well-being.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This devastating incident is more than a crime report it’s a deep societal wound that forces introspection on issues of gender bias, family pressures and the silent struggles within households.

A community’s strength is measured not only by how we condemn violence but also by how actively we prevent it through empathy, awareness and support. In Delhi and across India, efforts to educate, empower and dismantle harmful mindsets especially those that undervalue girls cannot remain rhetoric alone.
