The Kuakonda Police, Chhattisgarh has initiated a probe regarding ‘unknown personnel’ after a complaint had been lodged about CRPF troopers allegedly molesting a group of schoolgirls on 31 July at a government hostel of a Palnaar village school, located 25 kms away from Dantewada, as per Hindustan Times.

The probe was initiated by the warden of the hostel, Draupadi Sinha.

Speaking to The Logical Indian, the police inspector of Kuakonda said, “A FIR under Section 354 IPC has been registered at the Kuakonda police station, and the investigation is underway.”

This matter came into light from a social media post by activist Himanshu Kumar.

“The Upper Collector and several other officials of the district had planned on celebrating the festival of Rakshabandhan at the school where the girls would be tying rakhis on the hands of the CRPF jawans, thus declaring them to be their protector and brothers,” his Facebook post read.

During the programme, some of the girls had gone to use the bathroom where they were allegedly molested by the CRPF in the name of frisking. The jawans had threatened the girls to keep their mouth shut while the entire incident was going on.

The traumatised girls later complained about this to their warden who took it up to higher authorities but in vain. The authorities, instead of starting a probe, scolded the girls after calling them to the CRPF camp and asked them to keep this incident to themselves.

Tribal leader Soni Sori was also called to the village for the grievance redressal of the girls, but she was not allowed to enter the school.

The Logical Indian take

Rampant human right violations almost every other day and that too from the gatekeepers of law and order themselves is disheartening to witness

It might be of some interest to the readers to know that the police, while speaking to The Logical Indian, initially mentioned that the molestation was allegedly done by CRPF jawans, but the very next minute he added that some ‘unknown personnel’ were involved in the case and that he could not be sure. This shows the corruption and the hushing up of crime that goes around in these areas.

It is ironical how a celebration of a day of sibling love turned out to be a day of horrific experience and nightmare for these girls.

The Logical Indian severely condemns the incident and urges the concerned authorities to look into the matter and ensure an unbiased investigation.
