CISF Officer At Delhi's T3 Wins Praise For Returning Forgotten Passport To US-Return Passenger.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer posted at Terminal 3 (T3) of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi recently went the extra mile to return a forgotten passport to an Indian passenger who had just arrived from the United States. After the traveller inadvertently left his passport behind at the security checkpoint, the CISF officer tracked him down through the busy crowd and personally handed the document back to him.

The passenger, identified on social media as Sudhar Khare @SudhirKhare13, publicly shared his appreciation online. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri reshared Khare’s post on X (formerly Twitter), praising the CISF as the finest force in the world and calling the moment “India’s magic.” The CISF’s official handle also responded to Agnihotri’s commendation. The story has since gone viral, sparking a wave of public appreciation for the force’s commitment to passenger service alongside its primary security mandate.

The Story Behind The Viral Post

Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is India’s busiest international gateway, handling thousands of arrivals every day. After clearing the security area upon landing from the United States, the passenger Sudhar Khare, inadvertently left his passport behind. For any traveller, misplacing a passport can be an alarming experience: without it, hotel check-ins, onward travel and official identity verification all become impossible.

Rather than simply depositing the document at the standard lost-and-found counter and awaiting a claim, the CISF officer chose to actively search through the crowd and reunite the passenger with his document on the spot. Khare took to social media to thank the officer and the post quickly caught wider attention. Agnihotri, the director of The Kashmir Files, reshared it with warm praise for the force. The CISF‘s official account acknowledged the commendation, reinforcing the force’s pride in the officer’s conduct.

CISF’s Track Record Beyond Security

This heartwarming episode is not an isolated one it reflects a broader and well-documented culture of passenger welfare within the CISF. As far back as 2017, the CISF at Delhi Airport introduced a dedicated initiative under which staff are given monthly targets to return lost items directly to passengers before they board, coordinating with the control room and scanning CCTV footage to trace owners. More recently, in September 2025, a CISF Sub-Inspector performed CPR on a passenger who collapsed in the pre-security area at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1, reviving him before medical staff could arrive.

The CISF praised the officer’s exemplary alertness and presence of mind and the passenger was subsequently transferred to hospital and reported to be in stable condition. Today, the CISF is the only Central Armed Police Force with daily, direct public interface at airports, the Delhi Metro and iconic heritage monuments currently providing security to over 68 national and international airports and hundreds of important national installations across the country.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

It is easy to see a security officer at an airport checkpoint and think of them only as gatekeepers, enforcers of rules, scanners of bags, checkers of documents. What this story reminds us is that behind the uniform is a human being who chose, in a fleeting moment, to prioritise a stranger’s distress above the minimum requirement of the job. That choice to search through a crowded terminal and restore something irreplaceable to its rightful owner is precisely the kind of humanity that makes a public institution worthy of trust. Stories like this one remind us that everyday acts of kindness remains unrewarded, unscripted and deeply human, are what stitch communities together, one small moment at a time.
