CBSE Announces Class 12 Re-evaluation Results via DigiLocker, Ending Students’ Long Wait

Board assures transparent review process as remaining Class 12 applications await phased results.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun releasing the outcomes of Class 12 applications for verification of marks, photocopies of evaluated answer books and re-evaluation, with more than 87 per cent of requests already processed through the DigiLocker platform.

The board said the remaining results will be declared in phases and stressed that every application is being examined through a transparent, closely monitored system with multiple checks to ensure fairness and accuracy.

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of CBSE’s digital evaluation process and widespread discussions among students and parents on social media regarding discrepancies, delays and review outcomes.

To bolster confidence in the process, CBSE stated that the post-result services platform is being supervised by technical experts from Digital India Corporation, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras.

The board has also urged stakeholders to rely only on official channels for updates and avoid misinformation circulating online as students continue to await the final phase of results.

Thousands Seek Review of Marks

The ongoing review exercise is among the largest post-result verification processes undertaken by CBSE in recent years. According to official figures, more than 1.6 lakh students submitted requests related to over 3.8 lakh answer books during the verification and re-evaluation window.

Prior to that, students had sought access to more than 11 lakh scanned answer books after the Class 12 board examination results were announced in May. The review mechanism follows a structured three-step process that allows candidates to first obtain photocopies of evaluated answer sheets, then apply for verification of marks and finally request re-evaluation of specific answers if they believe errors have occurred.

In a public statement, CBSE said that over 87 per cent of applications have already been processed and that the remaining requests are being handled in phases to maintain accuracy and fairness. The board added that every application passes through a robust system involving multiple layers of scrutiny before outcomes are finalised.

CBSE also highlighted that experts from Digital India Corporation, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras are overseeing the technological aspects of the platform to ensure secure processing and protect student data.

While many students have reported receiving their outcomes through DigiLocker, online discussions suggest that others are still waiting for their applications to be resolved.

Student communities across social media platforms have reflected a mix of relief, anxiety and anticipation, with some candidates reporting revised scores and others receiving “no change” outcomes following re-evaluation.

Debate Around Digital Evaluation

The release of re-evaluation outcomes comes against the backdrop of ongoing discussions around CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which forms part of the board’s broader effort to modernise examination assessment and improve efficiency.

In recent weeks, social media platforms have witnessed numerous posts from students and parents raising concerns about alleged marking discrepancies, delays in accessing answer sheets and technical issues linked to the review process.

Some students questioned whether digitised evaluation methods could fully capture the quality of written responses, while others sought greater clarity regarding the criteria used during re-evaluation.

CBSE has consistently defended its procedures, maintaining that the review mechanism is transparent, objective and supported by adequate safeguards.

The board reiterated that all requests are processed according to established guidelines and that no application is examined without multiple checks. It also warned students and parents against relying on unofficial social media claims, noting that misinformation can create unnecessary confusion and anxiety during an already stressful period.

Instead, candidates have been advised to follow updates through DigiLocker and official CBSE communication channels. The phased release of results appears to be a response to the substantial volume of applications received this year, reflecting the board’s attempt to balance speed with procedural accuracy.

As remaining outcomes are declared, the review exercise is likely to remain an important test of public confidence in India’s evolving digital examination ecosystem.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The CBSE’s decision to provide students with access to answer sheets, verification mechanisms and re-evaluation opportunities reflects an important commitment to transparency and accountability in education. In a system where examination results can significantly influence future academic and career pathways, students deserve accessible and credible avenues to seek clarification and redressal when doubts arise.

At the same time, the concerns expressed by students and parents highlight the need for educational institutions to continuously improve communication, strengthen trust and ensure that technological reforms remain student-centric.
