The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the date sheets for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2027, with both examinations beginning on February 16, 2027, at 10:30 am. Class 10 examinations will conclude on March 9, while Class 12 examinations will continue until April 9.

More than 26.5 lakh Class 10 students and 19.8 lakh Class 12 students have registered for the examinations, taking the combined figure to more than 46.3 lakh. The Board released the schedules 101 days before the examinations, giving students, schools and parents additional time to plan their preparation and other arrangements.

46 Lakh Students

The 2027 examination schedule covers 83 subjects for Class 10 and 121 subjects for Class 12. CBSE said the date sheets were prepared using the final subject-combination data submitted by schools through the List of Candidates (LOC) process.

The Board considered more than 40,000 subject combinations to ensure that two subjects chosen by the same student would not be scheduled on the same day. It also provided adequate gaps between examinations for subjects commonly taken together. For Class 12 students, CBSE considered the tentative schedules of major entrance examinations while finalising the board timetable.

Major Papers Scheduled

For Class 10, major papers include Mathematics on February 17, Science on February 22, English on February 26, Hindi on March 3 and Social Science on March 8, with the examination schedule concluding on March 9.

For Class 12, Physics is scheduled for February 16, followed by Chemistry on February 27, English on March 5, Mathematics on March 9, Economics on March 16 and Biology on March 25. All examination sessions will begin at 10:30 am. Students should refer to the official subject-wise date sheet for the complete schedule applicable to their individual subject combinations.

How To Download

Students can access the detailed timetable through the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in. They should visit the Board’s website and locate the latest notification relating to the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2027. The date sheet can then be opened and downloaded as a PDF for future reference.

Students are advised to rely on the timetable published by CBSE rather than schedules circulated through social media or unofficial education portals, particularly when checking the date of an individual subject.

Practical Exams First

The written board examinations will follow the practical examinations, project work and internal assessments. For affiliated schools in India and abroad, these assessments are scheduled from January 1 to February 13, 2027.

Schools in winter-bound areas have a separate window, with practical examinations and internal assessments scheduled from November 9 to December 19, 2026. The practical schedule had been announced by CBSE before the release of the written examination timetable.

Why Released Early

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the date sheets were being released 101 days before the examinations, giving students sufficient time to plan their preparation. The Board said the early release would also help parents, teachers and students plan their engagements around the examination and evaluation schedules. Schools will have additional time to make academic and logistical arrangements, particularly those designated as examination centres.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Board examinations are an important academic milestone, but they should not become a source of unnecessary fear, comparison or pressure. The early release of the timetable gives students a clearer roadmap, while parents and schools can use the additional preparation window to support students without making marks the sole measure of success.

For Class 12 students balancing boards with entrance examinations, maintaining a healthy and realistic study routine will be especially important. With more than 46 lakh students preparing for these examinations, how can schools and families make the board-exam season more supportive and less stressful for young people?
