A Canadian woman has filed a sexual harassment complaint with Bengaluru police alleging misconduct by a massage therapist at a well-known city hotel. She claimed that the therapist opened the door while she was changing, leaving her exposed and humiliated.

The complainant further alleged that hotel management tried to suppress the incident by offering a partial refund and discouraging her from taking legal action. The hotel has denied the allegations, with police sources suggesting the incident may have escalated after the woman sought compensation. Authorities have confirmed that an FIR has been registered and that an investigation is underway, including examination of CCTV footage and witness statements.

Allegations Of Harassment During Spa Session

The incident reportedly occurred at a prominent hotel in Bengaluru, where the complainant, a Punjabi-origin Canadian citizen, had booked a massage session. According to her police complaint, she was in the middle of changing clothes inside the spa room when the therapist allegedly entered without warning.

The woman claimed that she was caught in a vulnerable position, which caused her shock, embarrassment, and mental distress. She described the experience as deeply uncomfortable and said it amounted to a violation of her privacy and dignity.

After the alleged incident, the woman approached hotel authorities seeking an explanation and redress. In her statement to the police, she claimed that instead of addressing her concerns seriously, the management attempted to quietly resolve the matter.

She alleged that they refunded ₹7,000 out of the ₹10,000 she had paid for the service and advised her not to escalate the issue further. Feeling dissatisfied with the response, she decided to approach the Vidhana Soudha Police Station and file a formal complaint.

The hotel, on its part, has rejected the allegations. While no official statement has been released to the media, sources close to the establishment have maintained that the claims are unsubstantiated and that internal procedures were followed appropriately.

According to police sources quoted in reports, hotel representatives alleged that the woman demanded a large sum of money as compensation after the incident. When the demand was not met, they claimed, she proceeded to file a complaint.

Conflicting Versions And Ongoing Police Probe

The case has generated considerable attention due to the conflicting narratives presented by both sides. Police officials have confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered and that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with due process.

Investigators are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel premises, recording statements from staff members, and examining any documentary evidence related to the spa session.

A senior police official, speaking to the media, stated that the allegations are being examined from all angles. “After the incident, the woman allegedly demanded a huge sum of money as compensation. When the hotel management refused to pay, she filed a police complaint,” the officer was quoted as saying. Another source added that there appeared to be a “lack of clarity” in certain aspects of the complainant’s account, which would require further verification.

It has also been reported that the complainant was in Bengaluru to perform at a musical concert. Following the incident, she reportedly cancelled her scheduled event and left the city. “She was supposed to participate in a musical concert here in Bengaluru, but after this, she cancelled the event and left the city,” a police source told journalists. Authorities are now attempting to gather additional details to establish a clearer timeline of what transpired.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the identity of the accused therapist has not been publicly disclosed. Police have stressed that the investigation is at a preliminary stage and that conclusions will only be drawn after all evidence has been carefully assessed.
