The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) declared the Class 12 Intermediate annual examination results on March 23, 2026, marking a significant milestone for over 13 lakh students. In a resounding victory for female education in the state, girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 86.23%, compared to 84.09% for male students.

This year’s results, announced within a record 25 days of the evaluation process, also saw girls dominating the merit list, securing 19 out of the total 26 topper positions. While female students claimed the top spots in the Arts and Commerce streams, male students led the rankings in the Science faculty.

To ensure the highest standards of transparency and prevent malpractice, the Bihar Board integrated advanced blockchain technology into the examination and result-processing systems this year.

Girls Lead the Way in Academic Excellence

The 2026 results highlight a narrowing gender gap and a surge in academic performance among female students in Bihar. Out of the 13.04 lakh candidates who appeared for the exams, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.19%.

In the Arts stream, Nishu Kumari from Gaya emerged as the state topper with 95.8%, while Aditi Kumari from Patna secured the first rank in Commerce with 96%. The Science stream saw Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur taking the top position with 96.2%.

Highlighting the board’s efficiency, Education Minister Sunil Kumar stated, “The Bihar Board has once again become the first in the country to declare results, demonstrating our commitment to the students’ future.” BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore added that the swift evaluation of over 69 lakh answer sheets was made possible through dedicated software and the strategic use of blockchain technology to maintain an “unalterable and fair record” of student achievements.

Tech-Driven Integrity and State Support

The introduction of blockchain technology marks a revolutionary step for the BSEB, aimed at eliminating paper leaks and ensuring the sanctity of the marksheet verification process. This digital shift follows years of reforms by the board to shed its past image and emerge as a leader in examination management.

Historically, Bihar has introduced several incentives to encourage female literacy, including the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, which provides financial assistance to girls upon clearing their intermediate exams. Officials believe these targeted social schemes are the driving force behind the consistent rise in female toppers.

Following the announcement, the state government confirmed that toppers would be awarded cash prizes of up to ₹2 lakh, along with laptops and certificates, to further encourage higher education and professional growth.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

At The Logical Indian, we celebrate this remarkable achievement by the girls of Bihar. Their dominance in the merit list is not just a statistical win; it is a testament to the resilience of thousands of young women who overcome socio-economic hurdles to pursue their dreams.

We commend the Bihar Board for adopting modern technology like blockchain to foster a culture of honesty and meritocracy. Education should be a level playing field, and seeing the state’s proactive measures bear fruit gives us hope for a more equitable India.

When we empower a girl with education, we empower an entire generation. This success story serves as a reminder that with the right support systems and a commitment to transparency, every student can shine.
