On Friday, 23 January 2026, a massive security operation was triggered across Noida and Ahmedabad after several prominent schools received bomb threats via email, according to the times of India.
Institutions including Shiv Nadar School in Noida and multiple schools in Ahmedabad were immediately evacuated as local police, bomb disposal squads, and dog units conducted thorough sanitisation of the premises.
The threats, which arrive just days before India’s Republic Day celebrations, have put security agencies on high alert. While no explosives have been found so far and the threats appear to be hoaxes, authorities are working to trace the origins of the coordinated emails.
Pre-Republic Day Tension
The sudden evacuation of school campuses has caused significant distress among parents and students, particularly as it coincides with the heightened security period preceding the 26 January parade.
In Noida’s Sector 168, the administration at Shiv Nadar School acted decisively by suspending classes and clearing the building shortly after the threat was discovered.
Simultaneously, the Ahmedabad police received similar reports from multiple institutions across the city, suggesting a synchronized attempt to disrupt urban peace.
These incidents follow a pattern of “email bomb hoaxes” that have previously targeted major Indian cities, but the timing of this wave has necessitated an exhaustive multi-agency response.
Massive Search Operations
Law enforcement agencies across both cities deployed specialized units to ensure the safety of students and staff. “Police teams and sniffer dogs were deployed at the school premises, while bomb disposal units carried out intensive checks.
No explosive material has been found so far,” stated a senior official from the Noida police. In Ahmedabad, the Cyber Cell has been roped in to investigate the IP addresses used to send the threatening messages, which are often masked using offshore servers.
While the police have urged the public not to panic, they have advised school managements to strictly follow security protocols and verify all visitors entering campus grounds during this period.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
At The Logical Indian, we believe that targeting educational institutions with threats of violence is a cowardly act that causes deep psychological trauma to children and parents alike.
While it is a relief that these threats have turned out to be hoaxes, we must address the growing frequency of such digital disruptions.
We advocate for a system rooted in vigilance and community resilience, where law enforcement and schools collaborate to build robust safety nets. It is vital for authorities to track down the perpetrators of such psychological warfare to deter future incidents.
