An IndiGo flight 6E 058 from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, bound for Hyderabad reportedly made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on December 4, 2025, after a bomb threat was reportedly received via email.

The flight carried 180 passengers and 6 crew members, all of whom were safely deboarded. Security agencies including CISF, airport police, bomb detection, and dog squads conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft.

Zone 4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Bansal confirmed the media about the threat and the ongoing security measures, with no explosives found. Airport operations continued normally apart from the unscheduled landing.

Bomb-threat Triggered Diversion

The bomb threat was communicated to IndiGo mid-flight, prompting pilots to divert to the nearest suitable airport, Ahmedabad, as a precautionary measure.

This safety-first response is part of standard protocols in aviation security to ensure passenger safety while incidents are investigated. The flight was initially scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad but was forced to reroute due to the potential risk.

Security and Investigation

Following the landing, the entire aircraft underwent rigorous checks with specialized teams scanning for explosives or suspicious devices.

Law enforcement and security personnel swiftly responded to the alert, conducting comprehensive sweeps on board the aircraft and within the airport. While no explosive materials were found, an FIR is likely to be filed as investigations into the source and credibility of the bomb threat continue.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

While swift operational protocols and inter-agency coordination ensured passenger safety, recurrent hoaxes and bomb threats in Indian airspace create anxiety and disrupt travel.

The Logical Indian supports stringent security measures but urges efforts in intelligence and public awareness to prevent false alarms that waste resources and induce panic.
