The Bihar government has launched ‘Bihar Vidya Saathi’, a 24×7 one-on-one interactive learning platform aimed at students of Classes 9 to 12, giving them round-the-clock access to live teachers, digital study materials and AI-powered learning tools. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched the platform through video conferencing on August 24 for 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools spread across all 38 districts of the state. The initiative is expected to directly benefit around three lakh students, with nearly 75,000 teachers providing personalised academic support.
Students can choose teachers according to their requirements and interact with them individually to resolve academic doubts. The platform will also support preparation for Bihar Board examinations, as well as competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET.
Choudhary described the initiative as a significant step towards ensuring quality education and proper guidance for children, while the government has indicated that the facility will eventually be expanded to more schools across Bihar.
75,000 Teachers Available 24×7
The platform is designed to address a common challenge faced by students: getting academic assistance when questions arise outside regular classroom hours. Through Bihar Vidya Saathi, students in Classes 9 and 10 will receive academic support across subjects, while students in Classes 11 and 12 in the science stream will receive live tutor support along with digital resources for board and competitive examinations.
Around 75,000 teachers have been brought into the initiative to provide personalised support. Rather than relying solely on pre-recorded lessons, students can select a teacher based on their academic requirements and engage in one-to-one interaction to clarify doubts.
The platform will also provide digital study material and AI-based tools intended to strengthen conceptual understanding. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, students will have access to resources for Bihar Board examinations and preparation for JEE and NEET, alongside facilities for unlimited study and practice.
At the launch, Choudhary said the government wanted students to have access to answers and teacher support “wherever and whenever” they studied. He urged students to make full use of the platform to strengthen their knowledge and skills.
Three Lakh Students To Benefit
The first phase of Bihar Vidya Saathi covers 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools across Bihar’s 38 districts and is expected to reach approximately three lakh students. The initiative therefore seeks to extend academic support beyond the physical classroom, allowing students to access assistance from wherever they study.
The launch comes as Bihar continues to expand the use of digital resources in government-supported education. Earlier this month, the Bihar School Examination Board expanded its free JEE and NEET coaching programme to 155 selected Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools, with subject-wise video lessons prepared by expert teachers. The broader Vidya Saathi platform now adds personalised teacher interaction to these digital learning efforts.
The government has also said the platform will eventually be expanded to other schools in the state. Senior officials, including Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and senior Education Department officials, were present at the launch. Students also demonstrated the application and its features during the event.

Access to a teacher should not depend entirely on whether a student can afford private tuition, lives in a well-connected area or happens to have someone at home who can explain a difficult concept. Bihar Vidya Saathi has the potential to make academic guidance more accessible by bringing personalised teacher support and digital resources directly to students.
At the same time, the success of such an ambitious programme will depend on how consistently the platform works, whether students can reliably connect with teachers, and how effectively digital tools complement—not replace—the role of classroom educators. Technology can widen access, but meaningful education ultimately depends on patient guidance, encouragement and human connection.
