A horrific triple murder shook east Bengaluru’s Seegehalli area late Monday night, June 22, 2026, when a software engineer, his wife, and their younger daughter were found stabbed to death inside an apartment. The primary suspects are the family’s elder daughter, Shwetha, and her live-in boyfriend, Kenneth, both tech professionals who are currently on the run.
According to preliminary investigations, the tragedy unfolded when the victims confronted the young couple over their live-in relationship and an unresolved ₹30 lakh debt. Local residents alerted the authorities after the father stumbled out into the hallway, bleeding heavily, before succumbing to his wounds. In the latest developments, the Bengaluru Police have registered a murder case and formed six specialized teams to trace the absconding couple, while examining apartment CCTV footage that captured them calmly walking away from the scene.
The Victims and the Accused
The tragedy involves a family well-integrated into Bengaluru’s tech community. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Somasundar, a senior software engineer; his wife, 48-year-old Muttulakshmi; and their younger daughter, 20-year-old Supriya, who was pursuing her undergraduate college degree.
The suspects at the heart of the police manhunt are Shwetha the elder daughter of Somasundar and Muttulakshmi and her partner, Kenneth. Both are employed in private software firms and had rented a flat together at the Sai Green Apartment in Dhamnika Layout, Seegehalli, approximately a month and a half prior to the incident.
A ₹30 Lakh Debt and EMI Notices
While initial findings focused heavily on the family’s deep-rooted opposition to Shwetha and Kenneth’s live-in relationship, financial friction emerged as the immediate flashpoint. Shwetha and Kenneth had reportedly accumulated massive bank debts, estimated to be close to ₹30 lakh, and were severely falling behind on their Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) payments.
The crisis escalated when official bank default notices issued in Shwetha’s name were delivered directly to her parents’ permanent residence in Ramamurthynagar. Shocked by the massive financial liability and already disapproving of the couple’s lifestyle choices, Somasundar decided to confront the duo directly.
The Fatal Confrontation
On Sunday evening, June 21, Somasundar, Muttulakshmi, and Supriya traveled to the Seegehalli apartment to hold a serious discussion regarding the mounting bank loans. According to statements from the apartment’s security guard, the family stayed overnight and briefly left the complex during the day on Monday, returning around 7:30 PM.
Between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM, a heated argument behind closed doors escalated into extreme violence. Armed with sharp weapons, Shwetha and Kenneth allegedly launched a physical assault on the family. Muttulakshmi and Supriya were stabbed multiple times, collapsing from severe injuries inside the flat.
Despite suffering devastating wounds, Somasundar managed to break away, escaping the flat into the common area. Bleeding heavily, he stumbled down the staircase toward the watchman’s area to seek help, alerting neighbors who immediately called the police. Somasundar was rushed to East Point Hospital but tragically died of excessive bleeding along the way. Before passing, he managed to provide a dying declaration to initial responders, naming his elder daughter and her partner as the attackers.
Police Actions and Current Status
Following the attack, Shwetha and Kenneth managed to slip out of the building. While immediate neighbors reported hearing no loud commotions during the stabbings, internal CCTV footage clearly captured the accused couple calmly walking out of the apartment complex shortly before the bodies were discovered.
Bengaluru East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police, Saidulu Adavath, and City Police Commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, arrived at the crime scene late Monday night with forensic teams. The police have registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Six specialized police teams are currently tracking the duo’s digital footprints, cell tower data, and transit routes out of the city.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
This heartbreaking tragedy exposes the devastating consequences that arise when communication completely collapses within families, accelerated by modern financial pressures. No amount of social disagreement or financial distress can ever justify the taking of human life. As a society, we must look at this horrific event as a reminder of the urgent need for empathy, open dialogue, and constructive conflict resolution when handling deep personal or financial crises.
When disagreements escalate, turning to violence only breeds further destruction, shattering lives permanently. We must actively foster environments within our homes and communities where stress can be shared without fear, and disputes can be de-escalated through peaceful mediation rather than hostility.
