On a cold winter morning in Jaipur, a small yet impactful initiative called Bejubano Ki Rasoi (Kitchen for the Voiceless) is transforming how stray dogs are cared for in the city. Started by Gajraj Singh Kachhawa, the kitchen provides affordable and nutritious pre-packed meals to stray dogs, costing just ₹5 per packet.

This simple solution emerged after Kachhawa witnessed a troubling scene where a man was feeding a stray dog sugary biscuits, a common but unhealthy practice.

Since then, Bejubano Ki Rasoi has grown to sell over 500 nutritious meal packets daily, aiming to expand its reach to feed 3,000 dogs across Jaipur through several new counters.

Nutritional Meals That Respect Canine Health

Each meal provided by Bejubano Ki Rasoi weighs around 400 grams and includes wholesome ingredients such as paneer, soybean, rice, eggs, and multivitamins essential for a stray dog’s health.

The meals are designed to provide a balanced diet rich in proteins and carbohydrates, offering a healthier alternative to harmful human snacks like biscuits that contain excessive sugar and wheat.

“We want people to care responsibly,” says Gajraj. The low price point of ₹5 allows almost anyone to participate in feeding street dogs nutritiously, promoting a community culture of humane and thoughtful animal care.

From a Personal Concern to a Community Movement

The kitchen’s inception traces back to Kachhawa’s concern when he saw stray dogs being fed inadequate food. Initially, he intended to distribute free meals but was persuaded by friends to charge a nominal fee, believing that people value contributions they invest in.

This model of self-sustenance has enabled the project to thrive without relying on donations. Animal welfare officials in Jaipur have praised Bejubano Ki Rasoi as a beacon of social entrepreneurship and a practical step toward improving animal welfare in urban spaces.

Its success reflects growing awareness and sympathy towards street animals in Jaipur, where other initiatives like Pawfee-a dog care facility offering grooming, luxury products, and fresh meals-have also emerged.

The Logical Indian Perspective

Bejubano Ki Rasoi exemplifies how empathy can be translated into scalable, sustainable action. It challenges societal norms by promoting dignity through self-funded care, combining business sense with kindness.

While feeding stray animals is often done out of goodwill, this initiative encourages responsible feeding habits that improve the overall well-being of stray dogs.

The Logical Indian stands with this effort, emphasizing that true kindness includes awareness, knowledge, and collective responsibility.
