Social worker Dushyant Dubey’s St Broseph Foundation mobilises thousands of volunteers to provide legal aid, safe housing, and mental health support for victims of abuse and neglect in urban India.

Dushyant Dubey, widely recognised as the Batman of Bengaluru or St Broseph, has dedicated over a decade to transforming lives in Bengaluru through his nonprofit, the St Broseph Foundation.

With a robust volunteer army exceeding 8,000 across Bengaluru and other cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai, the Foundation provides crucial services including legal aid, mental health support, safe housing, and assistance in filing police complaints.

After quitting his corporate job in 2023, Dubey has focused full-time on social activism, helping over 5,000 people escape cybercrime, domestic abuse, and various civic challenges. His unique blend of humour and serious advocacy has earned widespread acclaim from citizens, volunteers, and official authorities alike.

Building a Volunteer Movement for Urban Justice

The St Broseph Foundation operates from Bengaluru’s Indiranagar with more than 15 chapters and hundreds of coordinators specialising in areas like animal welfare, mental health, civic issues, and women’s empowerment. Dubbey’s initiative started on Reddit in 2013 by addressing individual requests and has since evolved into a large-scale social movement.

The Foundation assists victims in drafting police complaints, ensuring FIR registration, liaising with BBMP officials for civic issue resolution, and providing shelter through safe houses.

His mission is to make justice and safety accessible to everyone, especially those who feel voiceless. Incidences like the covert operation that rescued an 18-year-old girl from captivity underline the Foundation’s reach and efficacy.

Journey from Digital Marketing to Humanitarian

Dubey transitioned from a digital marketing career to full-time social work in 2023, driven by an early defining moment when he intervened during an online suicide attempt. He realised the information gap victims faced in navigating legal and civic systems and began creating accessible content on rights, filing FIRs, and cyber laws.

The Foundation now offers trauma-informed, queer-affirming, caste-sensitive support, alongside programmes promoting women’s empowerment and student career counselling. Sustained primarily by Dubey’s savings, the initiative is progressing towards formal NGO registration to widen its impact.

Despite threats and challenges, Dubey remains committed to creating a self-sustaining volunteer ecosystem that can outlive his individual efforts.

Expanding Impact Through Community Engagement and Recognition

In 2025, the St Broseph Foundation marked a significant milestone by launching the “Summer Thankathon,” an initiative to celebrate Bengaluru’s unsung heroes who contribute selflessly to society.

This event strengthened community ties by recognising volunteers from diverse backgrounds and fostering a culture of collective responsibility. Dubey frequently participates in public forums and legal empowerment talks to raise awareness on citizens’ rights and responsibilities.

The Foundation’s work is not limited to crisis intervention but extends to preventive education and civic participation, positioning it as a vital pillar of Bengaluru’s social ecosystem. Through sustained volunteer training and expanding safe house availability, the Foundation envisions scalable social impact in urban India.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Dushyant Dubey’s journey reflects how empathy, grassroots mobilisation, and persistent community engagement can reshape urban spaces into safer, more inclusive environments.

At The Logical Indian, we celebrate such stories of kindness, dialogue, and peaceful activism, which champion hope amid complexity. The St Broseph Foundation exemplifies the transformative potential of collective social responsibility and resilience.
