The Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industrial area in Solan of Himachal Pradesh has turned into a dumping ground for industrial waste. The companies are dumping their hazardous wastes openly in areas that are not authorised for waste disposal.
For the last four years the place is being used as dumping ground. The locals have been requesting the factory officials repetitively to remove the waste, but they didn’t pay any heed to such requests. Written complaints have been lodged to the State Pollution Control Board, Municipal bodies and revenue administration. But they also seem to be slack about taking any necessary steps.
The dumped waste is contaminating the vicinity and releasing a foul odour, which might spread severe diseases in the area. There are around four villages in close proximity to this area. The tenants of those villages find the smell unbearable.
The Logical Indian requests the government of Himachal Pradesh to immediately take necessary steps in removal of the waste around Baddi and also conduct a proper investigation in the matter and against the company for contaminating the surrounding area. Even you can also come forward and help the place to become clean and waste-free. You can call the jiladhis of Solan district on this number, 01792-220656 or you can drop a mail at [email protected], requesting to initiate immediate action in clearing the waste from the industrial area in Baddi and request an investigation on the factory officials.
