Meet 58-year-old Anbu Charles, who is cycling all across the country for a mission to spread awareness on environment protection and nature preservation.

A native of Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal, Charles has been on the road since 2005. He has pedaled his old bicycle all the way to Nepal. But he is facing restrictions to enter Lakshadweep.  The authorities did not allow him to travel to Lakshadweep from Kochi because he did not have any sponsor or an official permit.

During his expeditions, Charles usually visits schools and there he gets food. Throughout his journey, he goes on spreading awareness among students on ‘nature protection’. For his daunting trips on bicycle, he says that he draws his inspiration from A P J Abdul Kalam who was also a bachelor. He has been cycling over a decade and has travelled to various states of India, including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and his native Tamil Nadu. He has now reached Kochi after addressing students of various schools in Malappuram and Palakkad districts.

Now he plans to go to Thiruvananthapuram, hoping to meet Kerala’s Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and take up to him the issue of restriction imposed on his Lakshadweep visit. After that, he plans to travel to North India, and from there the Northeast states of Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram.

The Logical Indian salutes Mr. Charles for taking this effort to travel and spread the words of protecting the nature.
