Equal Job Opportunities For All

Something as basic as a stable job can be a life-changer for someone who have been discriminated and not allowed to work. The idea of the LGBTQI job fair revolves around workplaces and companies where being gay or lesbian is different from others at work. Hence, the event aims at providing a comfortable and cooperative workspace for everyone.

Carrying your whole, authentic self to work and building a career that you deserve should be available to all. RISE believes in providing opportunities to all, with equity and equality.

After Section 377 was read down, many companies came together to show interest in accepting different genders in their workspaces. However, not many inclusive policies were formulated or implemented. Rise aims to challenge the status quo.

Why RISE?

“Unlike other fairs, this one includes jobs in the blue to white-collar space. Companies often struggle with the process of making a workplace more inclusive. The fair will have global and national executives, as well as renowned LGBTQI+ representatives from the community in India such as Akkai Padmashali. They will interact and inform attendees about the best inclusive ways that the companies in India can adopt.

The event will focus on real-life instances, and experiences of the people belonging to the LGTQI community to highlight the rampant discrimination.

So far, they have got over 100 resumes, Ram says. It includes people with different skill sets, including PhD holders.

Pride Circle will send a blind resume to participating companies, where a person’s qualifications, skill set, CTC expectation will be provided without personal identifiers.

If a company is interested in specific candidates, then the personal details will be provided.

Three significant aspects of the job fair will be, a day-long conference, a job fair and a marketplace for half the day each. The fair will also witness small business stalls set up by the LGBTQI community at the venue.
