How many times has it happened that you suppress your wishes just because you feel that the society may not approve of it? From the clothes we wear to how we live, everything seems to be under constant scrutiny. It surely gets very frustrating at times.

Just look around and you would know what is being referred to. From a very young age we are taught the lesson of being true to oneself, but consciously or subconsciously we end up doing what society expects and subtly demands us to do.

Parle has come up with a series of light-hearted videos which attempt to challenge this. It tries to put across a message that collective success of our society depends directly on the way we treat each individuals-that is with full acceptance and love. It imagines a world where every person is given marks on the basis of his/her thought process.

Hence, it is aptly titled #2020Soch.

Following are the videos which will guarantee a chuckle, and also drive home some very serious lessons.

Well, the situations shown in these videos are how things play out in real life. Like when you go shopping and have to choose between the clothes you like and the clothes society would like. Or the time you go for house hunting and the probability of you getting the house depends on the religion you practice, to the food you eat to the person you would like to live with. Facing discrimination for the choices is so common that people sometimes consider this as a normal, accepted way.

Even for bigger decisions in life, like marriage, you are constantly asked to portray yourself in a way that society would deem right. Even if it means not being your true self. How unfair is that to you and the person you are contemplating living with, for the rest of your life! Marriage, in fact ideally should be a union of two people who accept each other otherwise, the whole meaning is lost.

So, what will change this? The answer is simple, no change will come until there is a change in society’s perspective. A small change in outlook can lead to massive leaps of success in the future.

The Logical Indian appreciates Parle on taking on such issues in an interesting manner. It makes us imagine a world, where our thoughts could fetch us marks. If your thoughts, your actions and how accepting you are of the other people’s choices were to be given marks, how much would you score? #2020Soch
