Under all the glitters of Mumbai, there is a place where children have to sacrifice everyday hygiene for better tomorrow. In the area of Sathe Nagar children have to walk through knee-deep sewage and garbage for about 25 metre in order to reach their school.
It is either 45 minute walk over a only bridge that connect Sathe Nager to rest of the city or a short 25 meter sewage and garbage choice for student for their daily route to school. And students choose shorter route but under very high risk of serious infections and diseases to avoid any delay in school.
Already neglected area suffers from malnutrition and other issue inflicted by poverty. There is long pending demand of foot bridge for connectivity. But sadly that has fallen into political gimmickry and apathy. BJP is blaming Shiv Sena for this which controls city’s municipal corporations.
Located in the outskirts of Mumbai the place is bustling with slums. It is among poorest places with least civic facilities.
Until authorities take it seriously health of students hangs in balance. We hope they work fast towards providing solutions to civic problems there and students can look forward to bright future without worrying about daily health issue.
