Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has covered over 40000 school classrooms into hi-tech classrooms, by distributing laptops, projectors, mounting kits and USB speakers. This was done as a part of the government’s mission program for the protection of general education in Kerala.
As per the website of the KITE, detailed school surveys were conducted with the help of master trainers and school IT coordinators. The equipment was supplied to the schools after scrutinizing their actual requirement. The government project has also provided broadband facilities to the high schools and educational institutions.
The maximum number of hi-tech classrooms are in Malappuram (5,096), followed by Kozhikode (4,105), and Thrissur (3497), reported The News Minute. “We have completed the deployment of laptops, multi-media projectors, mounting kits, USB Speakers etc to 40,083 classrooms and additionally 16,500 laptops for the computer labs are also being deployed the week,” Anvar Sadath, vice chairman and executive director, KITE, told the Financial Express
There are 59 schools with 539 classrooms yet to be covered under this project as there are specific permissions required to be obtained to ensure the safety of the classrooms after which ICT (Information and Communication Technology) would be provided to them, as reported by The Financial Express.
KITE has also established a resource portal known as Samagra eResouce Portal where the teachers can be trained to teach in the newly developed hi-tech classrooms effectively. “As a requisite for the hi-tech school programme, the schools have to ensure safe and secure classrooms only after which the ICT (Information Communication Technology) equipment would be provided to them,” Sadath said.
Through this eResource Portal, teachers can also contribute to learning resources such as videos, images, interactive like pdb, ggb, swf, gif which will be available to the students without any restrictions.
