What Happens When Children Are Asked To Behave Like Their Parents?

We see our kids playing with toys, running around the house, hardly wondering what goes on in their little minds. We were like them once – full of spirit and energy – wanting to play with mom and dad, our role models. Despite being children once, how confidently can we say that we know our own kids?

Kores carried out an innovative experiment called #10MinutesWithMummaPapa to find out what children think of their parents and you will be surprised to find out what the little kids revealed.

Arts and Crafts experts used Kores stationery to recreate play time between children and parents. They asked the kids one simple question, “If you had 10 minutes to play with mom and dad, what would you make?” The children gave answers like Spiderman, Robots – showing their level of excitement to play with their parents.

But the experts tried something new – they asked the kids to dress like their parents and behave as they do during play time.

The parents were made to watch a video of their children mimicking them and what was revealed came as an overwhelming shock to them.

The children kept getting up every two minutes during playtime. Sometimes, they would go to the kitchen to cook food, sometimes they would be on WhatsApp and the other times, talking on phones. They also scolded the experts who played the role of kids, when they asked them to come and play.

The experiment had a very touching message – while parents are busy with chores, work and leisure, kids might feel neglected. #10MinutesWithMummaPapa revealed how important it is to spend quality time with children, instead of spending quantity time. Hours everyday is not needed to dedicate to children, but the little time that you spend, should be only with them; not in phones or in the kitchen.

It is important that we focus all our attention on our children during the time we spend with them. Kids learn from their parents, they are their first role models. When we show them that the time we spend with them matters, they also learn the value of relationships and echo the same with others.
