Many of us have heard about Thak-thak gang and the different methods they use to loot people who are in their cars. On September 5, a Delhi based couple were in for a shock. Valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen from the car of Nishant Kumar and Poonam Kaushal.
The couple with their daughter and their friend Dilnawaz Pasha went to meet a friend in Lakshmi Nagar in New Delhi. While Poonam and Dilnawaz went to a shop for their work, Nishant and their daughter stayed back in the car. Both father-daughter were seated in the front seats. The car was parked near to Heera Sweets shop, an area particularly known for its hustle bustle.
At around 9 pm, four-five people started continuously roaming around the car. Same can be seen in the video. The video also shows that these four-five people took turns to distract Nishant by telling him that some money had fallen near his car’s front wheel. He ignored it for a while but he eventually did open his car door to check. In doing so, the lock of the back seat was also unlocked. That is when one of the members opened the back door and fled away with the bag kept at back seat of the car.
The bag contained valuables and some cash, total worth of which comes at around Rs 1.5 lakh. It is apparent from the video that the gang, nicknamed the Thak-Thak gang was able to figure out that a bag was present in the car back seat.
Dilnawaz Pasha while speaking to The Logical Indian said, “It is very shocking that the gang managed to pull off this heist at one of the busiest locations of the city. We have estimated that loss is of Rs 1-1.5 lakh, it could be even more.”
Pasha added that an FIR has also been registered at the Shakarpur police station. The copy of FIR is with The Logical Indian.
When The Logical Indian spoke to SHO Shakarpur police station, he said, “The investigation is still on. Sometimes it becomes a little tricky while tracing these miscreants since they are not locals, but are people from other cities. In fact, in a recent incident of similar nature, a gang was traced to Kanpur.”
The Logical Indian take
Incidents like these have become increasingly common. It seems that this gang operates without any fear, this incident which took place at such a busy locality is a testament to it. While we hope that this gang is caught at the earliest, we also hope that better vigilance and monitoring system is in place to avoid any such incident in future. At the same time, it becomes a lot more important for us as individuals to maintain high alertness to not fall into any such trap. The Logical Indian requests it community members to be watchful and bring it to the notice of police whenever they observe any such incidents happening.
