About 7,575 such children have been rescued in the year 2015 by the help desk set up by Women and Child development ministry. This was informed by Minister of state for Railways Mr. Manoj Sinha in the budget session of Parliament through a written reply.
A hundred thousand children go missing in India every year according to National Crime Record Bureau. About 5000 reports are launched for missing children in different states but no results are obtained. We also see many abandoned/missing/runaway children on railway stations but we don’t know how to help there but there are ways.
How To Track Missing Children
1.) The government has two websites to try to find them.
The latest, KhoyaPaya.gov.in, or “Lost and Found,” launched last week by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is designed to let the public post information about children they believe are missing, report a sighting of a missing child or scour the database for information about children who have fallen off the radar.
The other, TrackChild can be updated by two thirds of the country’s police stations and 5,000 children’s homes but the public cannot upload information to it.
Over 150,000 children have been found through TrackChild since its launch in 2008, according to an official at the website who asked not to be named.
2.) Women and Child development ministry in coordination with Railways has set up help desk at 20 stations. The children are rescued from stations by the child help groups which mainly comprises of railway staff like Station Manager, GRP inspector, RPF, TTE and TC. Then the children are handed over to child help desk from where they are transferred to different child welfare committees. This also prevents the human trafficking.
The security helpline number is also operational i.e. 182 for any security-related assistance to the passenger in distress.
The Logical Indian appeals to all the people if they see such children immediately inform to GRP, RPF or police so that they may get proper assistance.
