An IFS Officer, Susanta Nanda shared a video on his Twitter handle on 5 July showcasing the process of using fishbone-shaped canals to direct water from Bhitarkanika's creeks into gaps in mangroves, with an aim to make the saline barren ground fertile enough to host newly planted mangrove species. The design enables the water to penetrate every crevice of the area.
