After Helping In Chennai Floods, Actor Siddharth Up For 'Kerala Donation Challenge'; Help If You Can
|The death toll has reached 167 in flood-stricken Kerala and more than one lakh people have been displaced and are in relief camps across the state. The government has issued a red alert in 11 of the 14 district in the state. Many people are still stranded in flood-affected areas and the Centre on Thursday has deployed all three wings of the armed forces to rescue people. Amidst the devastating flood, Actor Siddharth has come up with a “challenge” to help the flood-affected people.
The actor has urged people to donate for Kerala floods. On August 16, the actor tweeted calling it a ‘Kerala Donation Challenge’ and asked people to contribute. He also posted a picture of the donation he made to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (Govt of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram). He further “challenged” and also “begged” the people to do the same.
#Kerala is facing great adversity in the form of floods. The people of Kerala have shown incredible strength and are helping each other deal with this calamity. We must all do our bit. Please contribute to the CM's Distress Relief Fund. Stay strong Kerala! #KeralaFloodRelief https://t.co/oSau5fWW1K

In a letter written to the government, the actor recollected the devastating flood situation in Tamil Nadu in 2015. He said, “I am pained by the lack of adequate attention being given to this situation. It reminds me of a similar apathy displayed by the national media during devastating Tamil Nadu floods of 2015.” Talking about the power of social media, he said, “Every rupee donated towards the cause of flood relief in Kerala makes a difference and that he believed that social media had the special powers to create magical movements overnight,” he further added.
I dare you. I beg of you!
What do I have to do to make you read and share this?

Tamil Nadu Flood 2015
During the time of Tamil Nadu floods, at least 347 people died due to floods in the State. The Rang De Basanti fame Siddharth showed his support to the people at the time of the calamity. At that time, he along with RJ Balaji, a radio jockey from Tamil Nadu used their twitter handles to coordinate for the supplies and volunteers. Hundreds of people, inspired by their act, joined them to help the victims. Siddharth was himself one of the victims of the flood, but that didn’t stop him from helping other people in need.
Other celebrities that came up for help
Following this, many other actors have pledged their support in these troubled times. These celebrities are urging people to do what they can to help the affected people.
