Amidst the ongoing communal tension in West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raja Singh has uploaded a hate message on Facebook, inciting the Hindus of the state against the Muslims.

“The way Hindus were made to leave Kashmir, the same will happen to Bengal and it will be converted into Bangladesh. This is why I want to send this message across to the ‘Tigers of West Bengal’ – wake up, get alerted. My Hindu brothers, you must remember what had happened to Hindus in 2002 in Gujarat – when they were killed. The way we had responded then, is what we need to do now…” he said in Hindi in a video uploaded on Facebook and Twitter.

बंगाल के हिन्दुओ के पास दो ही रास्ते हैया तो कश्मीर की तरह नपुंसक बन वहा से भाग जाएया संघटित होकर गुजरात का 2002 बंगाल में दोहराएजय श्री राम

The Gujarat riots were a three-day inter-communal violence between Hindus and Muslims which resulted in further outbreaks in Ahmedabad for nearly three months and communal riots against the minority Muslim population of the state for the next one year. It is reported to have been caused the death of 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus.

In his video, MLA Singh blamed the West Bengal government for failing to control the tense situation in West Bengal and claimed that they are helping miscreants spread communalism.

This is not the first time that he has resorted to such hate speech. Earlier in April, the Hyderabad MLA had said that he would behead those opposing the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The communal violence in West Bengal started on July 4, when a grade 10 student allegedly posted on Facebook a derogatory meme on Prophet Muhammad. The clashes have been pitting members of the Hindu and Muslim communities of Baduria, North 24 Parganas against each other. The riots escalated further as a 65-year-old man died of stab wounds in Kolkata on July 6.

The Logical Indian community does not support the views of MLA Raja Singh. Their extreme communal nature is meant for one thing only – to incite violence in the minds of people. He isn’t a representative of Indian Hindus, but a manipulator who relies heavily on existing biases in the society. It is essential that we rebuke personalities like him who work hard to create discord and initiate conflict. His comments are a threat to Indian democracy.
