Andhra Pradesh: CenturyPly Unveils Massive Wood Panel Unit, Set To Boost Local Economy

In a significant stride towards industrial growth, Century Plyboards (India) Ltd. inaugurated its largest integrated wood panel manufacturing plant in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh. The grand opening was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, alongside CenturyPly Chairman Shri Sajjan Bhajanka and other distinguished guests.

On December 23, 2023, Century Plyboards (India) Ltd., the country’s leading wood panel and decorative industry manufacturer, marked a milestone with the opening of its expansive wood panel manufacturing plant in Badvel, YSR Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. This strategic move aligns with the government’s vision of transforming the region into a hub of agro-industry, further solidifying YSR Kadapa district’s position on the industrial map of Andhra Pradesh.

The plant, with an initial investment of nearly Rs. 1000 crores, focuses on laminate, MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), and PVC production. The first phase has already commenced laminate production, with MDF and PVC units nearing completion. The initiative is expected to generate over 2000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the Andhra Pradesh region over the next 3-5 years.

Shri Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director of CenturyPly, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable development. He highlighted an investment of Rs. 700 crores in MDF and Rs. 250 crores in laminates and PVC during the first phase, with plans for an additional Rs. 1000 crores investment in the expansion phase.

The inauguration also marks the commencement of the government’s vision to plant one lac acres of greenery in the YSR Kadapa district, contributing to sustainable development. CenturyPly is actively involved in a robust plantation drive, supplying one crore saplings annually to farmers and ensuring future buy-backs.

Shri Bhajanka added, “We believe in holistic development, supporting our employees and stakeholders for a better future. This plant, with its imminent capacity expansion, consistent innovation, and wider distribution channels, will undoubtedly enhance our brand journey and contribute positively to the local economy.”
