Few months ago, when I was riding my two wheeler back home from my guitar class, I met with an accident. I was thrown off my bike, and I rolled over and hit the median. Unfortunately, I wasn’t wearing a helmet and so received a deep cut on my forehead. Many onlookers immediately surrounded me, but they were just looking, no one was ready to help me, but one man did. He rushed in to the circle of onlookers, simply lifted me up, dumped me in his auto and raced to the nearby hospital. He had to deposit some money for my admission. He made sure they attended to my injuries immediately. He bought me medicines, verified my belongings, even massaged my swollen legs and assured me everything was going to be fine.
A little later I decided I had to break the horrifying news to my dad, sensing my fear, he offered to inform my father. He described the situation to my father in a very polite and calculated way, so as to not worry him too much. He specifically instructed my dad to not disclose this to my mom. This person was so informed, and so confident, that my father thought it was a doctor, who was informing him of his son’s situation. I still remember the time, when my parents, few of my friends and my little brother stormed through the door and the rest was history.
Untill we left the hospital this hero was right there next to me making sure I was fine. My mother gave him some money but he refused to accept it, but informed her that he will take the 500 rupees that he had deposited for me. My mother insisted him to accept the rest of the money too, and so he finally gave in and hesitantly took it.
What an amazing man!. Such true heroes do exist, and I was so fortunate to have met him at the right time.
Today while I was crossing the same spot (on a four wheeler this time, since two wheelers are now a taboo at my home), I was overjoyed to see him at the auto stand. I immediately stopped, to say hello, and thank him wholeheartedly for what he did for me that day. I also got to take a selfie with him. He was immensely happy and proud that I recognized him, took time to stop and greet him.
