Today is the 10th edition of Earth Hour which will take place between 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.  Millions of people across the world will be spending one hour in darkness to help raise funds for global conservation work. Let’s take a look on the concept of Earth Hour.

What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroot movement that aims to unite people across the world to show that they care about the planet. People switch off their lights for an hour to realise how their daily routine and habit have been causing a toll in the environment

Who organises Earth Hour?
Earth Hour is organised by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to make people aware how climate change caused by emission of carbon elements is posing serious health threats to wild life.  Many species of animal kingdoms are on the verge of extinction.

How did Earth Hour start?
It was started by WWF Australia as a lights-off event in Sydney, in 2007, to engage Australians on the issue of climate change. Since then it has gained significant popularity and more and more countries are  participating every year.

Who  takes part in Earth Hour?
Everyone can take part in Earth Hour. Today around 172 countries will be taking part and some of the world’s biggest landmarks like Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa and even the Buckingham Palace will be switching their lights off.

The Logical Indian invites everyone to participate and support the earth hour initiative to spread the awareness of imminent threats which climate change poses to humanity. Let us unite for a cause, what more cause can we unite for than our very own survival.
