The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has issued a public clarification stating that it has not called for any gathering anywhere in Delhi except Jantar Mantar, where it says its peaceful protest is being held.
In a video message released amid reports and social media posts alleging that people claiming to be associated with the organisation were creating disturbances in other parts of the capital, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke urged the public not to link such incidents with the movement.
He said anyone assembling outside the designated protest venue or engaging in violence was not acting on behalf of the organisation, adding that the party remains committed to a peaceful and constitutionally protected agitation.
The clarification comes days after clashes between protesters and Delhi Police during the student-led agitation drew widespread political attention, with protest organisers alleging excessive force while the police rejected several allegations and maintained that law and order had to be preserved.
As of now, authorities have not publicly confirmed any evidence linking the reported incidents outside Jantar Mantar to the Cockroach Janta Party.
Dipke Issues Public Appeal
Seeking to counter what he described as misinformation, Abhijeet Dipke released a video statement urging supporters, media organisations and the public to rely only on official communication issued by the Cockroach Janta Party.
“We have not called anyone to assemble anywhere except Jantar Mantar for our peaceful protest,” he said, reiterating that the protest site remains the movement’s only authorised venue. According to Dipke, volunteers have been instructed to maintain discipline, avoid confrontation and ensure that demonstrations remain peaceful.
The clarification follows the circulation of several videos and social media posts claiming that individuals identifying themselves as CJP supporters were involved in incidents of unrest in different parts of Delhi. While many of these claims remain independently unverified, Dipke said the organisation wanted to make its position unequivocally clear.
He stated that any individuals engaging in vandalism, intimidation or public disorder elsewhere in the city were not associated with the Cockroach Janta Party, regardless of whether they invoked its name. He also urged supporters not to respond to rumours or provocative content online and instead follow updates issued through the organisation’s official channels.
The statement appears aimed at protecting the credibility of what the organisation describes as a peaceful student-led movement. Over the past week, the agitation has drawn growing national attention, with thousands of students and supporters participating in demonstrations centred around demands for accountability in education-related issues.
