Fabrecreate, a sustainability-driven initiative founded by Jaivir Gulati, is addressing the growing textile waste crisis by converting surplus fabric into HOPE Jackets—multi-functional jackets that double as sleeping bags. The organization has distributed over 3,500+ jackets, providing warmth and protection to displaced children in refugee camps and underserved communities across India and beyond. Extending its reach, Fabrecreate has also sent jackets to war-displaced children in Ukraine and to Myanmar , ensuring warmth reaches those facing the harshest conditions.

India’s textile industry generates vast amounts of surplus fabric, much of which ends up in landfills or contributes to environmental pollution. Fabrecreate collaborates directly with textile manufacturers to repurpose this waste into durable, weather-resistant jackets, ensuring that discarded materials serve a critical purpose rather than becoming environmental hazards.
“Fabrecreate bridges the gap between waste and needs by transforming surplus fabric into essential products for underserved communities,” said Jaivir Gulati, Founder of Fabrecreate.
Beyond sustainability, Fabrecreate is deeply committed to creating livelihood opportunities for underprivileged women. Through community-led initiatives, women from extremely poor backgrounds receive specialized training from master tailors to stitch HOPE Jackets. Once stitched, the jackets are collected for distribution. This initiative not only provides fair wages but also helps these women gain confidence and financial independence through skill-based employment.
“Our work ensures that textile waste finds a purpose while providing livelihoods to women and warmth to displaced children in need,” Gulati added.
Looking ahead, Fabrecreate aims to expand its partnerships and scale operations to reach more displaced children while continuing to create more employment opportunities for women, reinforcing its commitment to both social and environmental impact.
