The notifications will be sent via email, text, WhatsApp and in-app alerts to parents who have enabled Instagram’s parental supervision tools, starting next week in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, with a global rollout planned later in 2026.
Instagram already blocks harmful content and directs teens to support resources, but the new alerts are intended to flag patterns of repeated searches that may signal distress.
