A 16-year-old Class 10 student was stabbed 27 times in just 30 seconds inside a snooker club in Bhopal in the early hours of 15 February, allegedly by two 16-year-old classmates. The shocking attack, captured on CCTV and later circulated on social media, shows the accused entering the premises in a seemingly premeditated manner before cornering the teenager and assaulting him with a knife and a dagger.

The victim sustained multiple grievous injuries and remains under medical supervision, while police have detained the minors and initiated proceedings under the Juvenile Justice Act. Officials say the assault appears to have stemmed from an earlier dispute over a pool game, though investigations are ongoing and charges may be enhanced based on the victim’s medical report and further evidence.

CCTV Footage Reveals Chilling Sequence of Events

The incident occurred at a snooker club located in the Tilajamalpura area of Tilajamalpura, where the victim had reportedly gone to play with friends. According to police sources, CCTV footage shows the two accused walking into the club calmly before launching a sudden and frenzied attack. Within seconds, they are seen cornering the 16-year-old and repeatedly stabbing him with sharp weapons.

Investigators confirmed that the assault lasted less than half a minute, during which the boy was stabbed 27 times. Reports indicate he suffered deep wounds on his back, shoulder and wrist, and two of his fingers were severed in the attack. Despite his critical injuries, the teenager reportedly managed to escape from the immediate scene and was rushed to a nearby hospital by bystanders. A senior police officer stated that the accused were identified swiftly through CCTV visuals and witness accounts.

“We have detained both minors and recorded their statements. The motive appears to be linked to an earlier altercation. We are verifying all details and awaiting the medical report to determine the appropriate sections under which charges will be framed,” the officer said. Authorities have also begun probing how the CCTV footage was accessed and shared online, warning that those responsible for circulating the graphic video could face legal consequences.

Dispute, Detention and Community Concerns

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack may have been an act of revenge following a dispute during a recent pool game. According to local reports, the victim had allegedly slapped one of the accused during a disagreement at the same club days earlier.

Police believe resentment may have escalated, culminating in the violent confrontation. Both the victim and the accused are said to attend the same coaching centre, adding another layer of complexity to the case as families and classmates grapple with the fallout. As the accused are minors, legal proceedings will follow the framework laid down for juveniles, with authorities stating that the nature of the offence will determine whether they are tried as adults.

The case has sparked widespread outrage across Madhya Pradesh, with many residents expressing concern over the intensity of the violence and the age of those involved. The viral circulation of the CCTV clip has further fuelled debate about the role of social media in amplifying brutality.

Child rights advocates have stressed the need for counselling and psychological assessment for all minors involved, including the victim, while community leaders have called for stricter monitoring of establishments frequented by teenagers late at night. Police have assured citizens that additional patrolling and vigilance measures are being considered to prevent similar incidents.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The disturbing attack in Bhopal forces us to confront uncomfortable questions about rising aggression among young people and the ecosystems that shape their behaviour. A disagreement over a game something that should have remained trivial escalated into a life-threatening assault, leaving a teenager hospitalised and two other minors entangled in the criminal justice system.

Equally troubling is the alleged sharing of the CCTV footage, which points to a dangerous normalisation of violence and a craving for online attention at the cost of human dignity. At The Logical Indian, we believe justice must be delivered firmly and fairly, yet we must also look beyond punishment to prevention. Schools, coaching centres and families need to invest more in conflict resolution skills, emotional literacy and responsible digital behaviour.
