A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, the prime suspect in the murder of 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana, an Indian national and digital creator.

Toronto Police discovered Khurana’s body inside a downtown residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025, following a missing person report filed the previous night. Investigators have classified the death as a homicide and confirmed that Ghafoori and Khurana were in an intimate partner relationship.

As the manhunt intensifies across the country, the Indian Consulate in Toronto is coordinating with local authorities to provide support to the victim’s bereaved family.

Himanshi Khurana Murder

The investigation began late Friday night when Toronto Police received a missing person report for Himanshi Khurana. By 6:30 am on Saturday, the search ended in tragedy when officers found her body inside a residence near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West.

The victim, a well-known digital creator based in Toronto, was an Indian citizen living abroad. Her death has been officially classified as a homicide, marking a grim milestone in the city’s 2025 crime statistics.

Intimate Partner Violence Suspected

Police have identified Abdul Ghafoori as the primary suspect, noting that he was known to the victim. The authorities have explicitly categorised the murder as an act of intimate partner violence.

This revelation has sparked widespread concern regarding the safety of women in domestic relationships. Ghafoori is currently at large, and a first-degree murder warrant has been issued. Investigators are working to track his movements, believing he may be attempting to flee the province or the country.

International Cooperation

The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed profound shock and grief over the incident. In an official statement, the consulate confirmed they are in constant touch with Toronto Police to monitor the progress of the case.

They are also providing necessary consular assistance to Khurana’s family in India. This international coordination is crucial to ensure that the legal process moves swiftly and that the perpetrator is brought to justice for this heinous crime.

Manhunt On

A Canada-wide warrant means that law enforcement agencies across all provinces are on high alert for Ghafoori. Toronto Police have released the suspect’s photograph and physical description to the public, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Officials have warned the public not to approach Ghafoori if spotted, as he may be dangerous. The community is encouraged to use anonymous tip lines to help investigators pin down his current location and prevent any further risk.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The tragic death of Himanshi Khurana is a heartbreaking reminder of the global epidemic of intimate partner violence. We believe that no individual should ever feel unsafe in their most personal spaces.

This incident underscores the urgent need for better protection systems and a cultural shift towards kindness and dialogue to prevent such senseless aggression. Our hearts go out to the Khurana family as they wait for justice. It is our collective duty to speak up against domestic abuse.
