A trivial domestic dispute over household waste allegedly turned deadly on Friday, December 5, 2025, when a 27-year-old first-year LLB student at Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre, Mohammad Irshad, was allegedly stabbed to death near his home in Sangam Vihar, South Delhi.

The victim was allegedly attacked around 11:30 am after intervening in a quarrel between his mother and his aunt, Rihana Khatoon, 47, concerning the cleanliness of cow dung and household refuse in their locality.

According the Times of India, Delhi Police from the Neb Sarai station have reportedly arrested Rihana and a 15-year-old minor relative in connection with the murder, which was witnessed by Irshad’s sister, Halima; however, uncle Mubarak, 50, and cousin Ishtiyaq, 26, remain absconding as of the latest update on December 6, as per.

Family Feud Over Cleanliness

Irshad had returned home Thursday night from his college accommodation to fetch medicine, planning to leave Friday morning, when longstanding disputes over waste like cow dung from his mother’s buffalo near the neighbouring homes boiled over.

His mother chatted with a neighbour about the mess when aunt Rihana began abusing her, prompting Irshad to calm the situation, escort his mother inside, and step out again to mediate.

Rihana then reportedly called her husband Mubarak and sons Ishtiyaq and the minor, escalating a petty neighbourhood row into fatal violence in the crowded Sangam Vihar locality.

Eyewitness Horror Unfolds

According to media reports, Halima allegedly saw Mubarak grab Irshad by the neck from behind, with Ishtiyaq and the minor joining; the teen allegedly fetched a knife from inside, handing it to Ishtiyaq who inflicted multiple stab wounds, causing Irshad to collapse as neighbours rushed him to Majidia Maqbool Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

CCTV footage captured earlier quarrels, aiding the murder case under IPC sections registered by Neb Sarai police.

Police Swift Response

A PCR call at 11:30 am brought officers to the scene, where they allegedly found Irshad critically injured; they seized the knife, interrogated the duo in custody, and launched a manhunt for the absconders while questioning locals for more leads.

All four accused reside nearby, highlighting how family proximity fueled the tragedy from verbal spats to blades over trivial hygiene woes. No motives beyond cleanliness emerged, with investigations ongoing into this shocking loss of a promising law student.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Tragedies born from waste bins cry out for dialogue to douse family fires, choosing words over weapons to preserve lives in our close-knit lanes. Kindness mends rifts, fostering harmony through patient neighbour chats that honour every soul.
