Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a major international arms trafficking network directly connected to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The group smuggled weapons from Pakistan into India using drones, highlighting alarmingly modern cross-border tactics. Authorities seized 10 high-end foreign-made semi-automatic pistols, including Turkiye-made PX-5.7 pistols used exclusively by special forces, along with 92 live cartridges.

Four key operatives were arrested, linked to gangs operating in Delhi and Punjab. This operation significantly disrupts an arms supply chain fostering regional instability.

Cross-Border Arms Smuggling

The bust exposes the increasing sophistication in smuggling methods, with drones being employed by ISI-linked modules to deliver firearms secretly across the border. The recovered arms, including the Chinese PX-3 pistols, reveal the international nature of the trafficking.

Delhi and Punjab have been historical hotspots for gang violence fueled by illicit arms, with networks supported externally. Police investigations, led by DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, stress the need to adapt law enforcement technologies and transnational cooperation to counter such evolving threats and prevent further destabilisation.

Detailed Operation and Arrests

In a targeted operation in Delhi’s Rohini locality, four arrested men were key figures in the trafficking chain supplying weapons to notorious gangs such as the Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha groups.

Special CP Devesh Srivastava noted the gravity of the seizure, especially the Turkiye-made PX-5.7 pistol deemed exclusive to elite forces, emphasizing the quality and threat level of smuggled arms.

Joint Commissioner Surendra Kumar highlighted ongoing investigations to trace the network’s full extent and the final recipients of these deadly weapons, potentially foiling more acts of violence.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This operation is a vital reminder of the persistent threats posed by transnational criminal syndicates and the importance of robust, intelligence-driven law enforcement.

The use of drones illustrates the innovative methods criminal networks adopt, requiring proactive technological and policy responses. The Logical Indian advocates for enhanced cross-border dialogue alongside strict enforcement to achieve long-term peace and security.
