At least nine people were killed and 32 injured in an “accidental blast” at the Nowgam police station in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on the night of November 14, 2025.
The explosives that detonated were reportedly seized from a terror module case in Faridabad, Haryana, linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit, which was also involved in a recent deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a high-level probe, while police dismissed claims linking the blast to Pakistan-based terror groups as “mischievous.” Rescue and medical teams continue to assist the victims, with investigations ongoing.
Mr Sinha also met the injured at Ujala Cygnus and SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. Sharing pictures from his meeting, he said, “Went to Ujala Cygnus and SMHS Hospital in Srinagar and met those injured during the unfortunate accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station last night. Praying for everyone’s speedy recovery.”
J&K LG Orders Probe
Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered a probe into the cause of the accidental explosion in Nowgam police station that claimed at least 9 lives and left over 30 injured.
“The government stand in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of the departed. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. I’ve ordered a probe to ascertain the cause of the accidental explosion,” Mr. Sinha shared on X.
PDP Cancels Victory Party
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) branch in Bhaderwah decided to call off their celebration for their winning candidate from Budgam, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi.
They made this decision out of respect following the terrible accidental explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar, which tragically killed several people.

Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah “offered condolences saying “extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of all those injured.”
Former Chief Minister and President of Jammu Kashmir People’s Democratic Party offered condolences.
“Deeply anguished by the tragic accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station that claimed 9 precious lives and left many injured. This heartbreaking incident lays bare the risks and difficult conditions under which our police personnel serve to keep the rest of us safe. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and prayers for strength and swift recovery for the injured,” she said.
How did Nowgam Police Station Blast Happen?
The Nowgam police station was central to the investigation following the arrest of radicalised individuals, including doctors involved in the terror module responsible for posting threatening posters in Srinagar.
Explosives, including large quantities of ammonium nitrate, were reportedly confiscated from Faridabad during joint operations. Officials had been handling these explosives for forensic examination when the blast reportedly occurred around 11:20 pm.
The incident caused severe damage to the police station and surrounding buildings, complicating rescue efforts with successive smaller explosions.
