Prashant Pal’s inspiring journey from a corporate professional to a pioneering social entrepreneur embodies a profound commitment to social change rooted in real-life experience and purposeful vision.

Born and raised in a middle-class family in India, Pal witnessed firsthand the enduring economic hardships faced by many including debt cycles, limited education, and lack of livelihood options particularly impacting women and marginalized communities.

These early realities planted the seed of his lifelong resolve to empower the underprivileged and promote financial independence, a resolve that would later shape every significant decision of his life.

From Corporate Career to Social Calling

Pal spent over a decade honing his skills in management, operations, and community engagement at reputed companies such as TATA, Accenture, and Fareportal. A turning point came during his tenure in the Philippines when the Anna Hazare anti-corruption movement erupted in India.

Inspired by the movement’s promise for social reform and driven by personal encounters with stalwarts like Anna Hazare and Kiran Bedi, Pal made the decisive choice to leave behind the predictability of corporate life. In 2012, he returned to India imbued with a renewed purpose: dedicating himself wholly to social development.

In March 2013, alongside his wife Medha Naruka, Pal established the Pushp-Kiran Union for Real Enlightenment India Trust commonly known as PURE India Trust.

The organisation began with grassroots community initiatives in Delhi NCR and Rajasthan, focusing primarily on empowering women and persons with disabilities through skill development, education, and entrepreneurship promotion.

Despite initial struggles for funding and resources, Pal balanced his corporate job and social work until 2016, when he embraced social entrepreneurship full-time.

Building PURE India Trust: From Struggles to Sustained Impact

PURE India Trust’s development illustrates tenacity and strategic vision applied to social innovation. Early days were fraught with challenges common to nascent nonprofits limited finances, outreach difficulties, and the need to build trust within communities.

However, Pal’s corporate mindset and leadership ensured disciplined growth and measurable impact. From simple community awareness to deploying specialised programs, PURE expanded its footprint from two states to 17 across India.

A flagship initiative, “My Village, My Business,” empowers rural women through entrepreneurship by providing grants ranging from ₹12,500 to ₹15,000 for starting small enterprises whether tailoring, handicrafts, or food processing.

Beyond financial aid, the trust offers continuous mentoring, training, business promotion, and branding support. This holistic approach has resulted in over 25,000 women-owned businesses with an operational success rate of 98%, signalling more than just quantity but sustainable quality and independence.

Addressing intersectional marginalisation, PURE India Trust also focuses on disabled individuals and the LGBTQ+ community, providing scholarships, medical aid, and customised capacity-building programs.

Its Digital Bridge platform extends these services to remote and digitally underserved regions, fostering inclusivity and access. The trust’s initiatives are catalyzed by growing CSR partnerships, which have significantly enhanced its scale and resource pool since 2020.

Vision for the Future: Self-Reliance and Community Resilience

With a target of establishing 25,000 women-owned enterprises by 2030, PURE India Trust aims to catalyse not just entrepreneurship but the overall socio-economic development of communities.

Prashant Pal emphasises that each challenge in the social development sector is a new opportunity for innovation, learning, and progress.

The trust’s multi-dimensional approach spanning career guidance for youth, inclusive entrepreneurship, skill development, and social welfare intends to build self-sufficient, resilient communities contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a self-reliant nation.

Pal’s leadership exemplifies how corporate expertise coupled with social empathy can transform grassroots realities. His work bridges economic opportunity and social justice, leveraging partnerships from government, corporate, and civil society sectors to deepen impact.

His authored work, including the book ‘100 Career Options,’ further reflects his commitment to empowering youth through informed career choices.
