On the evening of November 10, 2025, a Hyundai i20 car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, killing nine people and injuring over 20 others.

The blast occurred around 6:52 pm in a busy area, causing extensive damage and panic. Investigations point to a terror attack linked to a suspected module operating between Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

According to NDTV, the identified is Dr Mohammad Umar, as a key suspect associated with the blast. Multiple agencies, including Delhi Police, NIA, NSG, and intelligence agencies, are conducting a thorough probe while security has been tightened across Delhi and neighboring states. The government is maintaining high alert and promises a detailed inquiry into the incident. First images of the suspect have circulated online.

Reportedly, 6 family members of Dr Umar have been detained in Pulwama, including his mother and brother.

Blast Details and Immediate Response

The explosion originated from a white Hyundai i20 car parked near the Red Fort for nearly three hours before moving slowly and detonating at a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg. According to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the slow-moving car suddenly exploded at a red light, severely damaging nearby vehicles and causing casualties in the crowded locality.

Forensic teams quickly arrived on the scene, detecting the use of ammonium nitrate, a potent explosive commonly used in terror attacks. Emergency responders rushed to extinguish fires and aid the injured, who were transported to LNJP and AIIMS hospitals. Security forces cordoned off the area, and investigators began scanning CCTV footage to piece together the sequence of events.

Ties to Terror Network and Prior Raids

The blast has been linked to a “white collar” terror module recently uncovered in Faridabad, Haryana, where authorities seized nearly 2,900 kg of explosive materials and arrested several suspects, including doctors with alleged militant affiliations.

Following the arrest of Dr Muzzamil Shakeel in Faridabad, it is believed that Dr Umar Mohammad panicked and hastily executed the blast. The car’s ownership trail revealed multiple transfers, from Md Salman to Devender, then to Amir, and finally to Tariq and Umar, highlighting the complexity of the terror module’s operational network.

Authorities have detained Tariq and Amir for questioning. Security has been intensified at strategic locations, including Jammu’s Vaishno Devi shrine, Indira Gandhi Airport, and border points around Delhi.

Government and Security Agency Response

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the blast site and the hospitals, expressing condolences and assuring a meticulous probe encompassing all possibilities. Top agencies such as the National Investigation Agency, National Security Guard, and intelligence bodies are actively involved in the investigation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed and remains closely engaged. The U.S. Embassy issued a security advisory for its citizens after the incident, reflecting international concern.

Authorities continue forensic examinations and interrogations to confirm the identities of all deceased and to prevent any further threats.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This tragic attack in a bustling, historic part of Delhi underscores the pressing need for continued vigilance, unity, and resilience in the face of terror.

Beyond prompt security measures and investigations, it is vital to foster a culture of peace, empathy, and coexistence across communities to counteract hatred and violence.
