Actress Celina Jaitly recently shared an emotional Instagram post for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since September 2024.

She expressed her deep distress, saying she hasn’t slept a single night without crying, reaffirmed her unwavering support, and praised the Delhi High Court’s intervention directing the Indian government to ensure legal and medical assistance.

Major Jaitly, a decorated retired Para Special Forces officer, remains detained on unclear national security grounds. The Ministry of External Affairs has conducted multiple consular visits while a nodal officer was appointed to coordinate communication, with the matter set for further hearing on December 4, 2025.

A Sister’s Emotional Plea

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Celina addressed her brother as “My Dumpy,” hoping for his well-being while sharing the emotional toll of his ongoing detention.

She reiterated her commitment to stand by him like a rock, confessing to sleepless nights filled with tears and prayers. Her post resonated widely, drawing public sympathy and support. Celina’s advocacy has been relentless, appealing directly to the Indian government to fight for her brother’s safe return.

“My Dumpy, I hope you’re ok, I hope you know I’m standing with you like a rock, I hope you know I haven’t slept a single night without crying for you, I hope you know I’d give up everything for you, I hope you know no one can ever come between us, I hope you know I left no stone unturned, I hope God will finally be kind to you & me my bhai 💔 waiting for you …….” she wrote on her Instagram.

Why is Celina Jaitly’s Brother Detained?

Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a 4th-generation soldier and recipient of the Chief of Army Staff Commander’s Commendation for Gallantry, has been held in the UAE under opaque “national security” allegations since September 2024.

The Delhi High Court has now taken notice, ordering the Central government to submit a status report and appointing a nodal officer to liaise and ensure his rights are protected. Despite several consular visits by Indian officials, details about his exact situation remain scarce, intensifying concerns within the family.
